Build Your Real Estate Business for a Better Work Life Balance
Updated: 5 days ago
I started my career in 2020. I quit my day job and went all in with real estate. I joined a local boutique brokerage with some of the biggest producers in the county. I attended every single class that was offered and sat in the office every day eager to learn from the elites. This gave me so much inspiration and direction on how to build my career...almost too much. I began to try and mimic each person who inspired me without really considering where I wanted to focus on lead generation and what type of work life balance I wanted for myself.

What work life balance?
When you start a career in real estate, you quickly learn that the only way to thrive is by sacrificing your home life and to allow clients to call all the shots when it comes to scheduling. You are so hungry to close deals, you believe this storyline and throw away any chance of having days off from work. This quickly leads to burnout, which causes you to doubt your ability to thrive in this career.
Well at least thats what happened to me. I looked up to these incredible real estate agents who were selling ten to twenty million in real estate a year and thought they had the life I wanted. After closer evaluation, I realized they had the income I wanted, but not the business or personal life I dreamed of. This matters when choosing your mentor.
I wanted a thriving business that brought me ten million in annual sales, but I also wanted a business that respected my family time and vacation time. I wanted a business that successfully juggled multiple clients at one time, but also a personal life that felt relaxed and did not have me glued to my phone. I was told it was impossible and the people I spent the first five years of my career looking up to, did have this balance I sought after.
Delegating. Hiring. Trusting.
After I made the hard decision to join a new brokerage, I was pleasantly surprised by my new community. I was surrounded by real estate agents that sold over twenty million a year AND had extreme boundaries with their clients, hired on teams to delegate tasks, and new how to focus their genuis on the parts of their business they loved in a way that allowed them to attend every soccer game, be at every bedtime and always feel present at the dinner table.
This became a non-negotiable for me and I poured myself into this new community who taught me everything they knew. My incredible mentors, all women from Powerhouse(I have to write a blog all about my amazing brokerage!!) showed me it's possible to have a thriving business and a full home life. They gave me the blueprint, I created it for myself and now I want to help you do the same.
Hiring felt like the scariest thing. I built this business through so much sweat and tears(IYKYK). I was so scared to make the wrong hire and watch my business burn down. I was also so scared to not make the hire and watch me burn out. Choose your hard.
I chose to hire on an incredible transaction coordinator that provided an exceptional level of care to my clients, which meant letting go of the transaction coordinator who did a good job, but didnt wow me. The new hire was more expensive, but worth every cent. Not only did my clients rave about her, but the cross sale agent tried to poach her 9/10 times.
My second hire, probably the scariest hire, was my buyers agent. My buyers agent was a brand new agent, freshly licensed. Which I loved because I got to coach her on exactly how to run my business. We spent months training and once I went on maternity leave(YES I took maternity leave thanks to my team!!!!) my buyers agent was so confident on exactly how to keep my business running. She not only handled every tour, but she posted to my social media(my number one lead gen tool), she wrote contracts and she helped with my client appreciation event. Once I returned from maternity leave, she stayed on to help with all tours, inspections, listing prep, and more! Anything that requires an in-person meeting, my buyers agent steps in so I can work completely from home and focus on my family. My clients love her and feel like they are receiving an incredible VIP experience from my team, which they are because I meticulously curated it!
Why do I care who you hired...
Great question.
If you are wanting more work life balance, or maybe just more time to focus on the parts of your business that you love, then we should connect. Don't wait years of your life before hiring because you feel like you don't deserve it. Having a team to help you serve your clients is an elite experience they will be so grateful for.
Worried about paying a team? What, is real estate income always fluctuating or something?! I understand completely. That is why I made hires that are only paid when I close the deal. This also encourages my team to work alongside me during our busy and slow season because they want to see me win. When I win, my team wins. We collaborate constantly and are always working hard to improve our services.
You deserve it.
The world is abundant with incredible opportunities, ample amounts of money, and clients who are excited to work with you(and your team). I want you to believe that you will attract all that is meant for you by putting yourself in the right position to receive. Yes this is a bit woowoo, but stick with me. I don't believe in luck, I believe we set ourselves up for wonderful circumstances by putting in the work and showing up for the right opportunities.
If you are wanting a different business, you must start with different habits. Before you panic and try to rewrite your entire workbook, lets start with the room you show up in and the people you surround yourself with.
Don't make the same mistake I made and surround yourself with successful agents who refuse to turn their phone on DND. Those agents will face burnout or divorce in a few years anyways...
Surround yourself with agents that make you wonder how theyre doing it, but before you can ask, they grab you by the hand and show you their exact step by step plan.
My hand is out. Will you take it?
Let's get connected.
